OSA Quantum 2.0

  • Hyatt Regency Reston Reston, Virginia United States (map)

In light of the national initiatives created recently in many countries aimed at furthering quantum information science and technology, now is the right time to create such a conference. While certainly not all quantum technologies are optics or photonics based, the coherence manifest in optical and microwave sources is used for generating, controlling, and communicating quantum superposition and entanglement. As such, many Quantum 2.0 technologies are enabled by the techniques of optics, photonics, laser physics and engineering, and related areas of atomic and condensed-matter physics, including low-temperature microwave electronics. In evidence of the commitment the OSA has made to quantum information science and technology, OSA was a founding sponsor of an effort by scientists and engineers in the U.S. that led to establishment of the U.S. National Quantum Initiative in 2018. OSA wishes to expand upon that commitment to facilitate growth of a new science and technology era.
