Mike Locatis is Managing Director of Nexusist.
A veteran entrepreneur, Mike has founded and led several high-tech start-ups and growth companies throughout his career, building high-performance teams and guiding each through venture capital rounds and successful exits through M&A or IPO. Most recently, he served as CEO of 915 Labs, a food technology company he co-founded in 2014. At 915 Labs, Mike led the commercialization of a breakthrough FDA-accepted food processing technology originating from federally funded R&D programs including the U.S. Army and the USDA.
Mike’s three-decade career also includes multiple appointed positions in the public sector, including serving as the Secretary of Technology / CIO for the State of Colorado. Most recently, he served two successive roles in the Obama administration as Assistant Secretary U.S. Department of Homeland Security responsible for national critical infrastructure protection and as Chief Information Officer for the U.S. Department of Energy. While working in the capitol, Mike also served the President’s Management Advisory Board and the White House Interagency Policy Committee, where he helped craft policy and developed strategies to secure the nation’s critical infrastructures under Presidential Policy Directive 21, “Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience” including food and agriculture.
Mike is a Fed100 Award recipient for innovation in big data and analytics in national security. He is currently a National Security Senior Advisor with the Chertoff Group in Washington DC.
